Fly Ash

Products > Cementitious Materials > Fly Ash

Fly ash is a by-product produced while burning finely ground coal in a boiler to produce electricity. Physically, fly ash is a very fine, powdery material, composed mostly of silica. Nearly all particles are spherical in shape. Fly ash is a pozzolan, a siliceous material which in the presence of water will react with calcium hydroxide at ordinary temperatures to produce cementitious compounds. SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and occasionally CaO are the main chemical components present in fly ashes.

We source Fly Ash from India and Turkey in cooperation with domestic well-established companies that maintain long term agreements with the largest coal-fired power plants. The packaging options are jumbo bags (for containers and dry bulk vessels) and loose dry bulk (for dry bulk vessels). Our capacity exceeds 50.000 MT per month.

INDIAN ORIGIN DRY FLY ASH

Our Indian Origin Fly Ash is a quality assured dry Fly Ash (Full compliance to ASTM C618 Class-F / Class-C, BS 3892 Part-1, BS EN 450 and IS 3812) suitable to use in all concrete to improve the strength, stability and long-term durability of concrete. Under normal conditions, our Fly Ash is used to replace 15-35% of Portland cement by weight. Fly Ash can also be added without cement reduction to achieve desired mix characteristics.

Tests made in accordance with ASTM C 441 and ASTM C 1012 have shown that the use of our Fly Ash significantly reduces the potential for damage due to alkali-aggregate reactivity and sulfate attack. Depending on the quantity of ash used, the use of our Fly Ash consistently provides a 10% or greater reduction in the amount of water required for a given workability. This translates directly into increased strength and durability, reduced potential for shrinkage, reduced segregation, and most importantly, lower permeability.
